The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
